RESCHEDULED EVENT POLICIES

VEHICLE / CLASS CHANGES

If rescheduled for next available day, no change of vehicle and/or class is permitted in any category.   Exception is

Replacement Vehicle policy as defined in section 5.10.2 of this Manual.

If event is rescheduled to a new date and eliminations in driver’s category were NOT in progress at the time of postponement, the following replacement vehicle policies apply:

•   TF, FC, PS, PSM, TAD, TAFC, PM, TD, TS – returning drivers may re-register in a different vehicle but must remain in original eliminator category.

•   Comp – returning drivers may re-register in a different vehicle but must remain in the same class (i.e. A/D

to A/D, C/SM to C/SM, etc.).

•   SS,  Stock  - returning  drivers  may  re-register  in  a different  class  but  must  remain  within  their  original eliminator category.  *reference 2012 NHRA Rulebook- sections 2, page 4

•   SC, SG, SST – returning drivers may change to a different Super Category other than originally entered.

*reference 2012 NHRA Rulebook- section 2, page 4

If  event  is  rescheduled  to  a  new  date  and  eliminations  in  drivers  category  were  in  progress  at  the  time  of postponement,  the following replacement vehicle policies apply:

•   Returning drivers may re-register in a different vehicle but must remain in original category.   Comp, SS and Stock drivers must remain in the same class (i.e. A/D to A/D, A/S to A/S, etc.

Replacement vehicle cannot have been utilized by any other contestant at the same event.

Any  driver  wishing  to  participate  with  a  replacement  vehicle  must  present  replacement  vehicle  to  the  Tech Department for inspection prior to any runs being attempted.  At the discretion of the Tech Department, all vehicles may be subjected to inspection prior to making any runs at rescheduled event.

CLASS INDEXES

For categories using class indexes (Comp, SS and Stock), the rescheduled event will be conducted as follows:

·   If qualifying  is still open - the event must be resumed  using  up to date Indexes  resulting  in all  previously posted times being adjusted to the newest figures for the balance of qualifying and eliminations.

·   If  qualifying  was  secure  or  eliminations  were  in  progress  at  the  time  of  cancellation  - the  event  will  be completed using the Indexes in effect at the start of the original event date.

*reference P&P Manual 11.9

QUALIFIED FIELDS

If  the  field  was  not  set  and  additional  qualifying  runs  are  permitted  prior  to  the  start  of  eliminations  at  the rescheduled  event, drivers not returning  for the conclusion  of the event will be automatically  withdrawn  from the event and will be omitted from the qualifying sheet.  If tech inspection was closed prior to postponement, no further entries will be accepted.

PAIRINGS - LADDERS

If qualifying was secure and eliminations were not in progress at the time of postponement:

TAD, TAFC, PM, Comp, TD, TS:

Alternates will be inserted into the field for non-returning qualified drivers.  *reference P&P Manual 11.8

SS, Stock:

The field size at the rescheduled event will be determined by the actual number of returning drivers.

First round pairings will be conducted on a random basis – pairing procedure will be conducted in a manner that prevents cars within the same class from racing against each other.   Drivers will be positioned on a ladder for round two of eliminations based on furthest under the Index in round one.

All categories - If eliminations were in progress at the time of postponement, original pairings will be followed to conclusion.

TF, FC, PS, PSM, TAD, TAFC, PM - Race sequence for each round of eliminations is determined by contestant’s choice based upon qualifying or previous round times.  Rescheduled events require new sequence determination, regardless of whether eliminations were in progress or not.

ALTERNATES

TAD, TAFC, PM, Comp, SS, Stock, TD, TS – If an alternate driver is inserted into a rescheduled event for a non- returning qualifier, the alternate will receive full eliminator round points and cash awards.  The original qualifier will only be awarded points that are solely based on qualifying.

*reference 2012 NHRA Rulebook- section 3, page 8 *reference P&P Manual 5.13.2

COMP INDEX ADJUSTMENTS (CIC)

Permanent index adjustments  to be calculated using the most current up-to-date indexes regardless of what Index is in effect at a rescheduled event.  *reference P&P Manual 11.4

The Headquarters Tech Department must be advised of the postponement and rescheduled date.  CIC's certified to the point of postponement must be reported to Headquarters Tech Department  no  later  than 12 noon on the morning following the postponement.  Permanent index adjustments WILL BE MADE on Monday even if an event is not concluded.

NATIONAL RECORDS

In the event a race is rescheduled due to weather or other circumstances, all times posted during any portion of the original date will continue to apply toward possible Records established when the race is resumed and completed. Runs during tune-n-test do not count toward National Records.

Records will NOT be recognized until completion of Record setting sessions at the event, and are not retroactive to the original date of the event.  For example, Pro Records may be set up to and including the final round – therefore, Pro Records are not recognized until after the final round of their category is completed.  Comp may set records up to and including first round – therefore, if first round of Comp was completed prior to the postponement, any Comp Records established will be recognized at the time of postponement.

Any Records established at races completed in the interim will be recognized and points awarded.

POINTS AND PRIZE MONEY

TAD, TAFC, Comp, Super Stock, Stock, SC, SG, SST, TS and TD

If any portion  of an event  is completely  rescheduled  for any reason,  drivers  unable  to return  but still eligible for competition,  will be granted an automatic  withdrawal  - earning no points - and the event will NOT be charged to their event quota.  If a driver does not wish to be withdrawn from the postponed event and desires to receive points earned up until the point of cancellation, contestant must contact the event Division Director or NHRA Competition Department within 24-hours.   If eliminations  were in progress at the  time  of postponement,  a winning  driver  unable  to return  will  receive  round  money  (and  points  if requested) as if the driver had lost in the first round contested at the resumed event (regardless of actual round number).  *reference 2012 NHRA Rulebook- section 3, page 5 *reference P&P Manual 11.1 ENTRY FEE TRANSFER                                     (email here to withdraw & still receive round points)

If an alternate driver is inserted into a race under these circumstances, the alternate will receive full round points and round money.

If qualifying was secured on the originally scheduled date, non-qualifiers will receive 10 points regardless of whether an event is rescheduled.  Withdrawal policy does not apply; entry fees are not transferred.

Points are awarded in the chronological order a driver completes each event.  For example, if event “A” is postponed until after event “B”, those drivers still eligible for competition at the rescheduled event will be awarded points for event “B” prior to event “A”.  Drivers losing in event “A” prior to postponement will have event “A” points awarded prior to event “B”.

Conclusion of eliminations for Lucas Oil Event 5-5  set for Thursday, September 6th, 2012 at Tri-State Raceway.

More schedule details will come soon.
